The 5 steps of an effective SEO content strategy

In our long experience in supporting businesses with their online presence, we’ve discovered that every SEO content marketing strategy that works follows a path of 5 steps:

Step 1: Definition of the target audience

There’s absolutely no marketing activity that does not start with this question: who are your potential clients? An in-depth, data-backed knowledge your target audience or audiences (if you’re operating on multiple markets, for example) is the foundation of any marketing strategy. Step 2: Keyword analysis

Whether you’re willing to revamp an existing website or launch a completely new one, we will find the keywords that will drive the most traffic and lead you to page #1.

Choosing the right keywords is like driving a car and deciding which road to take in a bustling megalopolis. A wrong turn will have us stuck for hours in a traffic jam. Another wrong turn will get us to that abandoned, creepy neighbourhood no one wants to pass through.

Step 3: Designing the content cluster

SEO content strategy specialists don’t actually talk about a content galaxy, but they use another astronomical metaphor: content clusters.

A content cluster is a group of pages organized around a main topic, that’s explored in depth in a pillar article, with side topics or single elements of the main topic discussed in other pages. Every page, naturally, is optimized for a specific set of keywords, with the pillar article focusing on the most important one/ones.

Over the last few years, search engines, and specifically Google, have paid more and more attention to this content structure. The reason is that it shows a comprehensive knowledge, commitment and dedication to exploring different angles of a subject, and therefore authority.
